Royalty-Free Does Not Mean FREE

There's an issue I'd like to address in regard to image usage.

I've seen more than one person think the term royalty-free means they can use the image for free. It does not. It means you pay one price for the use of the image, within the confines the copyright holder sets for whichever license you happen to purchase. NOT FREE.

That doesn't mean there aren't places you can get actual free images to use. There are many sites that offer legitimately free images.

That does mean that images you get from stock photo sites like Dreamstime, Deposit Photos, iStockphoto, Bigstock, and the others have to be paid for before you can use them. BEFORE YOU USE THEM. That means you can never publicly display their watermarked images. NEVER. Even if the image is one they offer for free, you have to download the non-watermarked image to use, not their watermarked one. It may seem like it's not a big deal, but some of these sites are very protective and will come after you. An innocent mistake is only innocent the first time. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse.

Please do your research. Respect the artist's copyright.

Siri de Calendri was trained in the art of illumination in her brother’s workshop in 12th century Venice, but when her brother dies his will sends her far from home. Siri travels to the faraway county of Poitou in France, where she enters the guardianship of her brother’s friend, Triston de Brielle. Once settled, she hopes to find employment in an illuminator’s shop— until Triston unexpectedly snatches her heart away with a kiss.

Triston is a man of quiet honor and courage, but the guilt he carries for the death of his wife, Clothilde, has left him numb and hesitant to love again. Worse yet, Siri bears an uncanny resemblance to his lost love. Or does she? Her merry laughter and twinkling eyes are very different from his late wife's shy smiles and quiet ways. Yet when he gazes into Siri's face, all he sees is Clothilde.

Then Triston's past returns to threaten them both. Trapped between the rivalry of the king's sons on the one hand and a neighbor out for vengeance on the other, Triston realizes it would be safer to send Siri away. Siri is determined not to be cast off and not to live in another woman’s shadow. She has illuminated many a priceless book with pen and paint, but can her own vibrant spirit illuminate the darkness in Triston’s soul and make his heart beat for her alone?

I know evil exists. I met it face to face.

In Retselville, Kentucky, small-town therapist Solomon Noche is struggling with displaced anger toward God. Nightmares encapsulate him, revealing an ancient, demonic cult that sacrificed children in his town, and perhaps continues.

Sol is thrust on a journey where reality and psychosis blur, as a nightmarish figure torments him with riddles and time-traveling nightmares. The riddles expose secrets and evil - hidden history revealed leads to a sacrificial altar, ritual dagger, and a well of skulls. Sol unearths a 19th Century journal from a secret cellar detailing a mission to stop this cult and its demon—Miyah.

The closer Sol gets to the truth, the more sinister the secrets become, leaving no one to trust, including himself. He resolves his only hope is in God to save him and defeat this demon and cult. Sol confronts Miyah’s terrifying, fallen-angel form in a battle not only for Retselville and his life, but innumerable lost souls.

A supernatural thriller, twisting you until the end with its addictive story. Your heart will pound walking down the darkened path with Sol. Cowering at the sights and sounds encountered, pray you’re heard as you WHISPER A SCREAM!

Arms of an Angel by Linda Boulanger

Sometimes it's hard to tell where one set of wings ends and the other begins...

Her old friend Joe had always said Claire was his angel, though the woman she'd become was anything but celestial. She was beautiful, alluring, the epitome of sensuality...and she was filled with a pain so deeply embedded she was sure she could bear it no longer.

Hope vanished, as did her desire to go on. She'd decided to end her life, but instead of the extravagant meal at a high dollar restaurant being her last, a mix up of names placed her life in the hands of the most virtuous man she'd ever met. An earthly angel named Garrett, who would show her that even she was worthwhile; a man who needed someone like Claire to help him piece together the shattered parts of his own life.

Three touching, inspirational tales that evoke the essence of what we love most about the cold weather holidays.

Ghosts in the Graveyard:
October 1816. When Sir Anthony's cousin dies, a grieving widow is left behind, one no longer wanted when her father-in-law, the Duke of Marcross, sires a new heir. She is welcomed to Dunsmere by the Dowager Duchess; she has a plethora of empty bedrooms now that Sir Anthony and his bride, Ginny Delacourt, have moved from the premises. When Lady Avery claims she saw a ghost in the graveyard attached to the church on the Dunsmere estate, Anne, with help from Baldwin, the gardener, and handsome stranger Mr. Williams, attempts to unearth the meaning behind the eerie happenings at the Duchess' estate. Will they solve the mystery of the ghost before the cantankerous Dowager Duchess sends Mr. Williams away and all of Anne's hopes with him?

A Rose For Christmas:
Autumn 1812. The Dowager Duchess of Marcross wants nothing more than to win the annual flower show and has been developing the perfect Christmas rose, sure to be a winner. However, the rose is stolen and she is faced with a moral dilemma. Can she win the competition without compromising her integrity and sacrificing her reputation? A young Sir Anthony and Ginny Delacourt make an appearance in this heartwarming tale of loyalty, devotion, and gratitude.

The Lord Who Sneered:
Christmas 1818. Debutante Lady Sophie Lundell has been warned away from the Marquis of Trevelin by her father, but why? When she meets the infamous Marquis at her first ball, she is fascinated by his scar, one that causes his mouth to be drawn into a perpetual sneer. So determined is she to learn how he came by it, she follows him out onto the veranda and insists on hearing the story from his own lips. Her curiosity transforms into a profusion of emotions when she discovers there is more to the Marquis' wicked reputation than his injured mouth. When Christmas day dawns, she learns that the best of gifts are bestowed only by the heart.
